Photo Story 19

Some of you might recognize that this is a photo of the famous Maroon Bells mountains near Aspen, CO. If you Google “Maroon Bells” you will see glorious photos taken during different seasons, but  almost always just after sunrise when the water is still and the reflection of the mountains and the tress on the shore are breathtaking (see my photo below). To get my own photo of the Bells I got out of bed at 4:00am, and drove to this site to await the dawn and get my own iconic shot. I am including the photo above, taken after all the other photographers have long left, because it illustrates what I frequently do when taking photos, but not often enough. The star of this photo is not the scenery, it is the two lovers on the shore, making their own memories. What I often do is take a candid photo of the people, and offer a free copy of the image digital file after I have made improvements in Lightroom. I failed to do that on this occasion, and have regretted it ever since. I know if my wife and I were offered a file of us doing this I would have treasured it forever. Lesson: you will never regret doing a good deed, but will always regret not doing it.
