I had first seen this property in the summer and immediately envisioned it as a great winter photo. As I mentioned in Photo Story 14, I had envisioned this as a winter photo when I scouted this location in the spring of 2017. The conditions finally were exactly right on January 6, 2018: a heavy snow pack (10” or more), and I also wanted a white cloudy sky instead of a cloudless sky, but thought that was too much to hope for. Imagine how different this scene would look with a bright blue sky. The white fence made this the perfect setting for the winter photo. By the way, this is a color photo. It just looks as though it was taken as a B&W photo. Be sure to set your exposure to +1 or higher when you take photos in the snow. Notice how there are obviously two different trees inside the fence when viewed at the base, but look like one tree at the top. The photo is a metaphor for a marriage: two people become one while their friends in the background happily bear witness, and the fence represents their faith, that encompasses their spiritual life together.
