How can we be of service to others when our suffering is so intense that we cannot see beyond the crucible? When we undergo our own physical debilitating pain, injustice, overwhelming grief, severe deprivation of money, shelter, food, potable water, and safety and no access to emotional, mental or physical therapy, it makes service to others seem impossible. However, the greatest service we can render to others is prayer, and prayer serves both the person who prays as well as the recipient. We have all experienced the incredible power of prayer in our own lives as well as seen it in the lives of others.
